About the role

Ascendion, a leading technology company, is seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing robust data pipelines, leveraging SQL and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) technologies to support the company’s data-driven initiatives.

What you’ll be doing

Develop, optimize, and maintain the data warehouse, including building data pipelines and executing data/report migrations.

Construct complex SQL queries on large datasets, standardize query practices, and optimize performance for faster data retrieval.

Build automation workflows, monitor job uptime and performance, identify automation opportunities, and ensure data security throughout pipelines.

Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to analyze data sources, support system updates, and implement out-of-the-box solutions for end-user data needs.

Verify data integrity, perform source-to-target analysis, and ensure compliance with data governance standards for high-quality data delivery.

Deliver new data warehouse tables, support product or process change requests, and provide optimized data flows that meet business SLAs and requirements.

What we’re looking for

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused role

Proficient in SQL programming and experienced in designing and optimising complex SQL queries

Strong hands-on experience with ETL tools and frameworks, such as Apache Airflow, Talend, or Pentaho

Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and experience in implementing and maintaining data models

Working knowledge of cloud-based data platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
